Yesterday, Kathie Renner (piano) & Karen De Nardi (viola) recorded a lovely Korean song, 'Jesus Says'. Kathie added her usual classy vocals. She also did vocals on a couple of other songs that already had backings down.
I did a bit of percussion (sticks, shaker & tambourine) on a song or two before Simon Cooper came in to sing on 2 songs. Everything went smoothly, even the high harmony vocal I added to one of Simon's tracks, an Australian song called 'New Day'. We'd played it as a light country song & I think it's come up well.
The first songs for AT for Good were recorded on November 28 & 30, 2005. 7 songs specially suited for the young, but enjoyed by people of all ages. Included were 'I'm the only one like me' and one of mine, 'God's excellent Adventure'. The kids from Victor Harbor Lutheran Primary sang both of these really well, and the others too. Sally Judd, teacher & conductor, had done a great job in getting them into shape — the songs & the kids!
So, exactly 14 months later, we finished the 80 songs. Still to finish are mixing, mastering & transferring to disc, but it feels like a corner has been turned, a bridge has been crossed.
March 18, 7 pm at Concordia College Chapel is the launch. I hope that lots of people can join us as we sing and play a bunch of songs from the new collection.
